SKIN TREATMENTS

Plasma Pen - Fibroblast

Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening is a non-surgical treatment that uses a device to deliver the energy in the form of plasma to rejuvenate skin by improving facial lines and wrinkles, skin pigmentation associated with photo-ageing and other skin irregularities. It is based on the creation of a series of tiny dots running alongside the tension lines on the skin. The principle involves the ionisation of gases from the atmospheric air to create micro electrical discharge causing sublimation (turning solids into gas) of the excessive/sagging superficial skin layer. This process triggers an instant contraction and tightening of the skin fibres to create a lifting, remodelling and rejuvenating effect. Most areas of the face and body can be treated. The procedure normally takes 30 min to 3 hours to perform, depending on the size of the area being treated. Results are seen instantly although the best appearance is seen after 3 – 6 weeks. Although most clients only require one treatment, 1 – 3 treatments at 8 weekly intervals are recommended to give the results similar to a surgical procedure.

Local anaesthetic cream is applied prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort and the procedure is then virtually painless. The treatment may feel hot in places and there may be a tingling or burning sensation afterwards. Plasma technology has been used worldwide for several years. There have been occasional reports of post-treatment hyper or hypo pigmentation (darkening  or lightening of skin) but no other permanent adverse events have been reported. However, with any procedure involving trauma to the skin there is always the possibility of scars.

The skin will have multiple mm trauma marks to the skin’s surface, and as healing occurs the skin will appear dry and flaky. In the first few days, skin feels tender and redness and swelling will be present. Every individual will vary, some may have very little swelling that subsided in 1-2 days, whereas some may swell for a week.  Pigmentation and redness from the small marks can be present for longer if the scabs come away earlier than expected, for example when lying on one side of the face whilst sleeping.

Final results depend on severity of skin laxity or size of lesion, the desired result, the general condition of the skin and any pre-existing skin or medical problems. Reduction in skin folds and creases appear immediately. The tiny dark brown spots flake off over the following one to three weeks and the skin will heal within a similar period. Swelling is common and can be quite pronounced around the eyes, often worse the following morning and lasting for several days. The area may be tender as it is healing and may scab. It is important to allow any spots or scabs to fall off naturally otherwise scarring or infection may occur. As the treated skin is sublimated, the results often last years or permanently.

Immediately after treatment, there may be a burning sensation. This will usually resolve during the remainder of the day although if it is particularly uncomfortable or persists for a longer period, then an anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen can be taken. Swelling is common. This can be significant around the eyes and can last for several days and may lead to interference with vision in the initial period. Anti-inflammatory medication and/or anti-histamine may help alleviate the swelling. Crusting will usually develop over the treated area, this will often initially be brown or black on the surface of the skin and flake off over the following days. It may take over 2 weeks to completely disappear. To maximise the effects of your Plasma Fibroblast treatment we advise to keep the crustations/discoloration intact for 5-7 days and not rub them off immediately. Keep the treated area clean, away from excessive moisture and protected using a broad spectrum sunscreen. Mineral make-up may be applied from the third day of the treatment onwards. Avoid exposing the area to extremes of heat or cold until it has healed. A printed aftercare sheet together with an aftercare gel will be provided to you after your treatment.

Derma Pen - Microneedling

Microneedling (also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy) is a type of treatment that uses small needles to cause tiny punctures in the skin. These small contact points encourage the body to create a wound healing response and renew the skin cells. As your skin repairs, the production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect. It can also help tackle other skin damage such as scarring, dark marks, sun damage and ageing.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling is most commonly used to treat the following skin conditions:

  • Dull skin: Rejuvenate tired and dull skin and combat the initial signs of ageing.

  • Wrinkles: Fine lines and wrinkles on the face can be visibly reduced, as microneedling triggers collagen production.

  • Scarring: Scars from acne and Chicken Pox can be improved and an uneven texture can be smoothed out with microneedling.

  • Pigmentation: Can help to fade dark patches such as pigmentation due to sun damage or ageing.

  • Microneedling is a great treatment for you if you have darker skin because it doesn’t involve peels or lasers, which can cause pigmentation issues.

Treatments can be performed on the body as well as the face.

BB Glow

What is a BB Glow

BB Glow treatment is an innovative skin solution popular in Korea and Russia to minimise dark spots, pigmentation and uneven skin tone. A specially modified BB Glow Micro needle is used to deliver a BB serum formulated with natural ingredients which are safe and nourishing for the skin to even tone and brighter complexion.

The BB Glow Treatment, completely eliminates the need to apply make up by smoothening your complexion and giving your skin a natural glow without the need for Make Up.

How It Works

For your BB Glow appointment, the skin is first cleansed and exfoliated. A topical numbing cream is then applied to ensure a painless procedure. The BB Glow tool used is an upgraded version of a micro needling tool, that allows the needle to hold pigment. The pigment is then distributed under the first layer of the skin to ensure an even skin tone with the micro needle. A face mask is then applied to calm the skin.

After the procedure, it is recommended to keep the treated area clean for at least 24 hours and to use a 50 factor sun protection on the full face to avoid fading.

For the best results, we recommend an course of 3-4 treatments.

Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a form of exfoliation in which the aesthetician uses a sharp surgical blade to manually slough and scrape off any build-up of dead skin cells on the face. In addition to getting rid of dead cells, the treatment softens the appearance of fine lines and scarring. This procedure also removes any peach fuzz, also known as vellus hair, which can trap dirt and oil, causing breakouts and a dull complexion. After dermaplaning, you will see the results immediately. Your skin will be left smooth, soft and radiant

Is Dermaplaning safe?

It is extremely safe when performed by a professionally trained technician. The technique is performed by using a specialised sterile surgical instrument. Once the skin is properly prepped, the technician holds the skin taught and gently scrapes the blade at a 45 degree angle.

Once the vellus hair is removed will it grow back quicker and thicker?

No, this is physiologically impossible. The soft, fine vellus hair will grow back slowly – usually in about 4 weeks and no different than it was previously.
